Acharya Charka has mentioned in his text book, vata is most important one in living body. Vata is the only dosha which is responsible for vitiation of other two doshas as well as the dhatus and malas involvement in vata leads to disease. "Sandhigata vata (OA) is common vata" Diet factor can helps patients in their day today life to get rid of OA symptoms.
Pathya (wholesome) in sandhigata vataMudgayusha, (mung bean soup), chapattis of wheat flour, boiled vegetable and rice.
Apathya (Unwholesome) in sandhigata vataApathya (Unwholesome) aahar Should not take while patient suffering from osteoarthritis. Navana (New varity of rice), black gram, Taila (Oil), Dushita Jala(Polluted water), Sheeta Jala (Cold water), (Potato), Dadhi (Curd), Guda (Jaggery).
Fish contain lots of omega-3 fatty acids. These are unsaturated fats have anti-inflammatory properties and also have antioxidant properties so they may beneficial to people suffering from osteoarthritis.
The dairy product are rich in calcium and vitamin D. These nutrients increase bone strength, which may improve painful symptoms of OA.
Dark leafy greens are rich in Vitamin D, and antioxidants, Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption and can also boost the immune system, helping the body to fight against infection.
Broccoli contains a chemical compound sulforaphane, which could slow down the process of decaying bone cells. (Osteocyte).
A garlic contains diallyl disulfide compound it work against the enzymes in the body that damage bone and cartilage of joints.
Nuts are good for the bones it contain high levels of calcium, zinc, vitamin E, vitamin D and antioxidant.
Sugar: Sugars contains some inhibitory enzymes and cytokines which cause inflammation in the body. The sugars are manufacturers and add in sweetened beverages, including soda, sweet tea, and these, are cause the most likely to worsen inflammatory conditions in body.
Saturated fat: Oil containing foods present high amount of saturated fat, such as pizza and red meat, can cause inflammation in the fat tissue, this can make inflammation in joints. And cause osteoarthritis.
Old rice, wheat, barley, lentils, Arhar, Moong, Masoor, fruits and Vegetables, Papaya, drumstick, Tinda, Parwal, Gourd, Luffa, Cucumber, Bitter gourd. Bitter food items like celery, ginger, fennel, asafoetida, black salt, oil, light hot water, black pepper, rock salt, coriander, garlic, cumin, ghee, castor oil, lukewarm water, skim milk, buttermilk.
They should not be consumed if you are suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis new Paddy Black gram, Kabuli gram, Potatoes and lentils, mustard greens, okra, Yogurt, fish, jiggery milk, excess salt, cold drinks, food containing infected/mouldy, impure and infected water, cold food, cold water, dry vegetables, fried and hard-to-digest food. Strictly prohibited: - Oily spicy food, pickles, excess oil, more salt, cold drinks, refined products, alcohol, Fast food, soft drinks, junk food, canned foods, carnivores, non-vegetarian soups.
Pathya (wholesome) in aamvata Sunthi, Saindhav, Krela, Kulatha, Marich, Hingu, Yava, Takra, Gomutra erend tail. Apathya (unwholesome) in aamvata Dadhi, fish, Jaggery
Amla and Lavana Rasa Pradhan food items should be avoided.
Patients suffering from Vatarakta, experts described many foods such as cereals like old barley, wheat, qualities of rice soups of various pulses like, Chanaka, Masur.
All fruits are good for gout. Cherries may even help to prevent attacks by lowering uric acid levels that’s reducing accumulation and inflammation of uric acid.
All legumes are good, including lentils, beans, soybeans, pulses.
